Michelin-starred chef Wassim Hallal has upgraded his former smørrebrød deli in the city of Aarhus, and moved it alongside his fine-dining restaurant, Frederikshøj. In addition to running the most prestigious gourmet restaurant in Denmark’s second-largest city, he is also widely respected for serving the finest smørrebrød on the Jutland peninsula.
Chef Wassim set out to modernize the classics and has created a very distinct personal style in which deliciousness and precision are the most important factors, rather than adherence to the rules of the past.
ANX opened in 2020 offering new and more comfortably stylish surroundings than the old deli. The range of smørrebrød is not impressive, but the quality of the whole operation is, from the smørrebrød to the design to the service—all of which is on a level close to that of its luxurious parent restaurant next door.
